Julian graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2369, second in his class. He had the choice of assignments, but instead of choosing a starship, he chose Deep Space Nine, so that he could be on the frontier.
At the age of 5, his parents took him to have his DNA resequenced, even though genetic engineering is illegal under Federation Law.
Julian is a brilliant physician, and during his career has been nominated for the Carrington award, which meant he was one of the youngest ever to be nominated.
He was considered as the new image for the Long Term Medical Hologram that Dr. Lewis Zimmerman was working on.
His best friend on the station is Chief Miles O'Brien, although when the pair first met, Miles could not stand the doctor. The two of them are usually found in Quark's playing Darts, or in the holodeck playing one of the great historic battles.
Julian often shares breakfast with the station's resident Cardassian, Garak, whom he considers another friend. He is intriegued with the Cardassian, and his long term goal is to unravel the muystery surrounding his background and days in the Obsidian Order.
He has an eye for the ladies, and tried, unsuccessfully, to pursue Jadzia. He then spent a brief time involved with Leeta, a Bajoran daboogirl, but they split ammicably at Risa, and she is currently involved with Rom. When Ezri Dax came onboard the station, not long after Jadzia's death. Bashir once again found himself attracted to the woman, only this time, he was successful.
Bashir was first seen in the Episode: 'Emissary'
