Benjamin entered Starfleet Academy in 2350, and for the first few weeks he would be found at home, in New Orleans with his parents for dinner.
During his sophomore year, he spent a field-study assignment on Starbase 137.
Benjamin met Jennifer, his future wife, at Gilgo Beach on Earth in 2353, just after he had graduated from the academy. They married and 2 years later, in 2355, they had a son, called Jake. they served together on the USS Saratoga, where Jennifer met her tragic end in the battle of Wolf 359 in 2367.
As a single parent, Ben raised Jake, first at the Utopia Planitia Yards on mars, and then later at Deep Space 9.
In the early stages of his starfleet career, Ben was metored by Curzon Dax, a trill who later became one of his closest friends. The trill had met Sisko at Pelios Station, before the pair of them served aboard the USS Livingston.
Prior to his posting at the Federation Station of Deep Space Nine in 2369, Benjamin had served on the USS Livingston (NCC-34099), the USS Okinawa (USS-13958), where he served under Captain Leyton, and the USS Saratoga (NCC-31911). He had also worked at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars, where he had worked on the Defiant project and then finally he worked on Orbital habitats on earth, prior to his assigment to DS9.
Benjamin's father, Joseph, was a gormet chef, who ran a small establishment in New Orleans, called Sisko's. His mother turned out to be one of the Bajoran 'prophets'. He also had one sister, called Judith, who lived in Portland, Oregon, Earth.
Shortly after his posting to Deep Space Nine, Benjamin made contact with the mysterious life-forms identified in Bajoran legend as the legendary prophets, who reside in the Bajoran Celestrial temple. This was later to be found in the Denorios Belt. According to Bajoran beliefs, the Emissary would find the Celestrial Temple and unite the planet. Sisko fulfilled both these duties. As a result, he was named Emissary, a role with which he was uncomfortable with, but felt obliged to respect Bajoran beliefs. Later on he managed to grow with the role, but it was occasionally at odds with his role as a starfleet officer.
After Jennifer's death, Ben was reluctant to form another relationship, until 2371, when Jake set him up with a freighter Captain called Kassidy Yates. Their relationship was put to the test in 2372 when Kassidy was caught, and convicted of smuggling to the Maquis. they eventually married in 2375.
Benjamin had an interest in American Baseball, especially Buck Bokai, Tris Speaker and Ted Williams, and one of his favourite recreational holosuite programs was a recreation of Earth's famous baseball players. He also enjoyed wrestling, and was captain of the wrestling team at the academy in 2351. He also had a hobby of collecting 21st Century African artifacts.
In 2371, Sisko built and sailed, an old Bajoran solarsail vessel, of ancient design, and managed to pilot it to Cardassia. With this feat, he demonstrated that the ancient Bajorans had accomplushed the same journey over 8 centuries ago.
Ben was also an admirer of Captain Kirk, and actually got a chance to meet the legendary captain when the defiant travelled back in time to 2267, where he met Kirk aboard the Enterprise whilst it was docked at K-7.
Ben was promoted to Captain in late 2371, on stardate 48959.1
Benjamin Sisko was an excellent explorer, diplomat and a great leader, and one of his greatest challenges was the Dominion war, which began in 2373. He led many a daring raid on Dominion ketracel white storage facilities, and helped to recapture Deep Space Nine when it fell into the hands of the enemy. It was also during the war, that Benjamin managed to help 'convince' the Romulan Star Empire to join in an alliance with the Federation and the Klingons against the Dominion. Although his actions which he regretted, were illegal, and included falsifying documents, it was necessary to ensure the safety and the survival of life in the alpha quadrant.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Dominion war, Sisko was forced to return to the Fire Caves on Bajor, to confront Kosst Amojan. The evil Pah-Wraiths had seduced both Kai Winn and Gul Dukat to their cause, and they were trying to release the 'false gods' from their prison. Sisko succeeded in dispatching Gul Dukat, and trapped the Pah-wraiths into the firecaves, but not before sacrificing his corporeal existence. With this part of his destiny fullfilled, Benjamin became one with the Prophets.
Sisko was first seen in the Episode: 'Emissary'
