Beverly graduated from medical school in 2350, but learnt a lot about medicine from her grandmother, Felisa Howard at the Arvada III colony, especially concerning herbs and roots for wounds.

Beverly was introduced to her husband, Jack Crusher by their mutual friend, Walker Keel, and were eventually married in 2348. the following year, they had a son, Wesley. However tragedy hit in 2354, when Jack was killed whilst on an away mission.

Beverly went steadily through the ranks, and achieved the position of Chief Medical Officer in 2364 aboard the Federations flagship, the Enterprise. The following year, she left to take up a position as Head of Starfleet medical, but returned in 2366, so she could be reunited with her son.

Her hobbies included amateur dramatics, and she was also an accomplished dancer, although she liked to keep that a secret as her former colleagues named her the 'Dancing Doctor', a nickname she was not fond of.
