In 2346, Worf accompanied his parents to the Khitomer Outpost, where he was eventually orphaned in the brutal Khitomer massacre. He was rescued by Sergey Rozhenko, a human crew member from the USS Intrepid.

Sergey and his wife Helena adopted Worf and brought him up on the farm world of Gault, and then later, Earth. He was raised along with his adoptive brother Nikolai Rozhenko

In 2353, whilst living on Gault, Worf accidently caused the death of a young human boy. During a football match, Worf's and Mikel's head collided, which broke Mikel's neck. Worf felt responsible for the incident, and ever since, he has made sure he restrained himself whenever dealing with humanoids, as they are definitely more fragile than Klingons.

Worf does have one living blood relative, a brother called Kurn. Kurn did not accompany his parents to Khitomer. Worf only found out about his younger brother, after Kurn turned up on the Enterprise as part of the Klingon Exchange Program that Riker had participated in earlier.

Worf was the first and the only Klingon in Starfleet.

Whilst serving aboard the Enterprise-D, Lt. Worf became the Head of Security and was promoted to full Lieutenant, after the tragic death of Lt. Tasha Yar at the hands of Armus. A role at which he excelled.

In 2366, Worf was thrust into Klingon Politics, after he had discovered his brother Kurn, and that the Klingon High Council had ruled that their father, Mogh, had committed treason by consorting with the Romulans which resulted in the massacre at Khitomer. Worf and Kurn challenged this decision, but found the council unwilling to listen to their evidence that pointed towards Duras, as he had a powerful standing in the empire, and any such move would plunge them into civil war. Worf eventually took discommendation, which effectively made him an outcast to his people.

Worf had a son, Alexander Rozhenko in 2367 with Ambassador K'Ehleyr, but the two never married. When she was murdered at the hands of Duras, Worf got his revengeby killing Duras, and was left with the challenge of bringing the boy up alone. He sent Alexander to live with Helena and Sergey back on Earth.

Later on that year, Worf was once again dragged back into the affairs of the Empire, when Gowron's reign as Chancellor was challenged by the House of Duras, and the Empire was plunged into civil war. Worf was forced to temporarily resign his starfleet commision so he could take part in the internal matters of his people. Worf and Kurn supported Gowron's regime, in exchange for the rightful restoration of their family's honour.

In 2368, Worf's spinal column was shattered after an acident in the cargobay, where several containers collapsed onto him. Worf was left paralyzed, and there was little hope for a full recovery. With Klingon tradition, when a warrior can no longer stand, he requested the Hegh'bat ceremony, or ritual suicide. He was dissuaded from such an act when Dr. Toby Russell performed a dangerous experiment on him, where a new spinal column was generated. The operation was only successful because of Worf's physiology, which includes multiple redundant organs.

In his free time, Worf enjoyed making Ocean sailing vessels in bottles, and took part in a Klingon martial art, or Calisthenics program in the holodeck.

Apart from bloodwine, one of his favourite beverages is Prune Juice, which he describes as a Warriors drink.

He was promoted in 2371 to the rank of Lt. Commander on a magnificent 19th century sailing ship named Enterprise in the holodeck.

After the Enterprise was destroyed at Veridiian III, Worf took a brief sabbatical at the monastary on Boreth, before he was assigned to Deep Space Nine, where his role initially was to advise Captain Benjamin Sisko during the current crisis with the Klingon Empire.

Worf did not enjoy living on the station, so he moved his quarters onto the Defiant, where he played Klingon Opera very loudly over the ships sound system.

Worf refused to join the Klingon invasion into Cardassia in 2372. Because of this act of defiance, Gowron had Worf's family removed from the High Council, his titles and land were stripped away and siezed. then to further add insult to injury, Gowron and the Empire tried to dishonour Worf further. He was accused of destroying a civilian transport ship which resulted in the murder of 441 lives. When the hearing was convened, it was revealed that government agents had faked the deaths, in the hopes of disgracing Worf, and gaining sympathy for the annex on Cardassia.

During the Dominion war, Worf served aboard theKlingon Bird-of-Prey, the Rotarran, under the command of General Martok It was during this time that Martok made Worf a member of his House.

In 2374, he married the beautiful Jadzia Dax, in a traditional Klingon ceremony, but later that year, she was killed at the hands of a possessed Dukat.

After her death, Worf worried that Jadzia would not make it into Sto-Vo-Kor. He therefore volunteered for a dangerous mission, where he dedicated the victory to Jadzia, so that she would be placed amongst the honoured dead, and allowed into the afterlife.

During the final weeks of the Dominion war, worf became disenchanted with Gowron's actions. He was needless sacrificing Klingon Warriors in pursuit of political gain. Worf tried to get Gowron to change his strategy but was rebuffed, which left only one viable option. Worf challenged, and slew Gowron in a bat'leth fight for honour, and by right earned the right to lead the Empire and the Council. But Worf believed Martok to be the warrior for the task, and stood aside, whilst Martok was named Chancellor.

Once the war had ended, Worf became the Federation ambassador to Qo'noS.

Worf was first seen in the Episode: 'Encounter At Farpoint', he transferred to Deep Space Nine in 'Way of the Warrior'
